Student Opportunities

Texas RioGrande Public Defender (TRGPD) has many opportunities for students interested in gaining valuable professional experience while providing needed assistance in their community. If you are interested in spending your law school breaks learning about poverty law or want more information about other internship options, click the ‘learn more’ button at the top of the page.

TRGPD welcomes undergraduate and law students in offices across our service area for a semester, internship, externship, or summer. Interns and clerks will have the opportunity to gain experience in a traditional public defender setting or through our Operation Lone Star Special Project.

TRGPD clerkships and internships are unpaid. Applicants who wish to join TRGPD for the summer should seek funding through their school or other external sources.
